I think of myself as a "normal" kind of Catholic. When I read Tina Beattie's article I initially thought it was the "voice" of an anti-Catholic argument. But I decided to check out who Tina actually is. I was surprised to find she is a Catholic teaching at Roehampton. I am left rather puzzled!
She has been churning out this rubbish for years, but that is not an excuse to publish it in The Tablet, or to distribute The Tablet on church premises if this is in it.
The erstwhile Catholic teacher training colleges are now among the least orthodox academic institutions in the country where Theology is concerned.
The pro-life, pro-family, pro-worker and anti-war voice of an economically social democratic, morally and socially conservative patriotism towards the North of England, the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and Christendom. One Nation politics, with an equal emphasis on the One and on the Nation. Conservationist, not environmentalist. Far too conservative to be capitalist, far too left-wing to be liberal.
