In The Lead

There is no getting around it. Abbott was best, with Ed Miliband second. The other three were also-rans, with Burnham particularly bad both in terms of what he said and in terms of how he said it.

Only a tiny swing is needed to restore a Labour overall majority, and next week's Budget will guarantee one, not only in 2015, but also in 2020, in 2025, and possibly even in 2030. Whoever wins this contest will become Prime Minister. Right now, it is between Abbott and the younger Miliband.

  1. Will be prepared to bet on that prediction?

Didn't you also predict the downfall of Harry's Place.

Methinks less hubris and more hedging is required.

I can't see Labour winning the next election but I'm not going to rule it out.

  2. Wait for next week's Budget. Especially allowing for the summer break, "Black" Wednesday was not very long at all after the Tories had won an overall majority, which was better than they have done this year. But after that, it was just a matter of time. Four and a half years of time, but even so.

And The Fall of Harry's Place is a tale not yet concluded. But it is off topic here.
