"The B No Longer Stands For British"

That is the problem. If BP were still British Petroleum, an arm of the British State, then it could not conceivably have put itself in a position where this might have happened.

  1. The British are morally guilty for the actions of BP. It is a UK based company with many commercial operations throughout the UK.

If the Scots are morally guilty of the actions of HBOS and RBS (as you and many others seem to infer) then the British nation must collectively carry the can for the actions of BP.

  2. I don't know where you've got that one from. I am delighted that the controlling interests in HBOS and RBS have had to be taken into public ownership. Yet further safeguards of the Union.

The Tories will sell them off soon enough. They will probably have to do something with the Spanish if Santander goes under within the EU legal framework.

That safeguards the European Union and the supremacy of EU law.

The British are morally guilty over BP on so many levels. It was BP and its parent companies that propped up the Shah and stifled democracy in Persia/Iran.

Morally guilty of international corruption and so much more. Yes

Believe it when you see it. As much as anything else, who would buy them?
