From all accounts I come across it seems the black stuff in South Wales and South Yorkshire has been replaced by the brown stuff- heroin. That's one consequence of the Thatcher/Tebbit/Major/Heseltine legacy of making this country largely dependent on foreign coal/oil/gas for its energy needs.
Not just in South Wales or South Yorkshire.
