Why Later Catholic Baptisms Are Increasing

We are told that access to Catholic schools is the reason for the increase in Catholic baptisms from the age of one upwards. I find that highly unlikely. Much more probable, and indeed observably so, is that the very low infant mortality rate, combined with the scattering of families and of groups of childhood or university friends, has greatly increased the number of children baptised in their second years.
