Harriet In The High Street

Not since it was revealed that the late Diana, Princess of Wales was visiting the hospitalised in the dead of night has their been a more horrific revelation. In that case, Private Eye printed a card for people to cut out and carry in order to protect themselves against any such further affliction. What might local authorities and communities do to protect themselves in this case?

Mass Immigration

Would you believe it? Mass immigration makes the rich richer and the poor poorer, with no net gain to the economy as a whole. You don’t say! (See also this by Phillip Blond in today’s First Post.)

We now have the deliberate importation of a new working class whose members understand no English except commands, know nothing about workers’ rights in this country, can be deported if they step out of line, and (since they have no affinity with any particular part of this country) can be moved around at will, so that the old working class can be told to go hang, taking with it its unions, its minimum wage, its health and safety regulations, and so forth.

In accordance with this new state of affairs, we also have an enforced bilingualism or multilingualism which transfers economic, social, cultural and political power to a bilingual or multilingual elite, so that those who are or will be excluded are or will be the English-speaking working class, black and white.

Far from our having grown richer since 1979, we have in fact grown vastly poorer: only a generation ago, a single manual wage provided the wage-earner, his wife and their several children with a quality of life unimaginable even on two professional salaries today. This impoverishment has been so rapid and so extreme that most people, including almost all politicians and commentators, simply refuse to acknowledge that it has happened. But it has indeed happened. And it is still going on.

The root of the problem is that this country’s sovereignty, liberty, democracy and identity have all been eroded by a very heavy reliance on imported goods, rather than on a domestic manufacturing base; by a very heavy reliance on imports in order to feed her people, instead of maintaining a thriving agricultural sector, itself characteristically a bastion of strong family ties, and therefore also of strong community spirit; and by the ownership and control of much of her agriculture, industry and commerce by persons who are either not her citizens or not resident within her borders for tax purposes.

(And let us have nothing from certain quarters about how the Poles are good for the Catholic Church, and a bulwark against Islamisation. I would welcome the heirs of Sobiseki to these shores with open arms. But only one in ten of the Poles in Britain is a practising Catholic. They seem to have come here specifically in order to escape from Catholic Poland. And now they are going back, which says a great deal about what is becoming of Poland now that she has the globalist, Atlanticist, Eurofederalist government that we are all supposed to be so delighted about.)

Is there a party which will do anything about this, a party which recognises the problem? There is.

Free Public Transport

For pensioners, as of today. Jolly good, but that's only the start. We need a party committed to a national network of public transport, universally free at the point of use.

Unaffordable? We seem to afford the Iraq War, we seem to afford to bankroll both the devolved and the EU institutions, and we seem to expect to afford the "renewal" of Trident.

Is there such a party? There is.

Payback Time At Harrods

William Langley writes:

Mohammed Fayed, Britain's leading purveyor of conspiracy theories, will have returned to his threadbare-carpeted, oak-panelled fifth-floor office above Harrods quietly satisfied after hearing yesterday's summing-up of the evidence in the inquest into the deaths of his son, Dodi, and Diana, Princess of Wales.

The great thing about believing that Diana and her boyfriend were bumped off by MI6, assisted by the CIA, Scotland Yard, Tony Blair and the late princess's sister and brother-in-law, all acting on the orders of the Duke of Edinburgh, is that it allows you to believe just about anything.

Including that the inquest you demanded has been fixed, and that the coroner - in this case the dubiously establishment Lord Justice Scott Baker - was cunningly planted by the same 'dark forces' you think secretly run the country.

The coroner's forthright, if predictable, conclusion that there was "not a shred of evidence" that Diana was murdered, and that Fayed's accusations should be totally disregarded by the jury, is an ideal outcome for Fayed. Any suggestion that his claims had credence might have obliged him to come up with some evidence.

As things stand he can simply expand the vast conspiracy that engineered the crash in the Alma tunnel to include the coroner and most of the 250 witnesses who have so far appeared at a hearing now running into its seventh month at a cost approaching £8m.

Even at Harrods that kind of money goes a long way. Fayed could usefully mark the inquest's end by throwing open the doors of his Knightsbridge store to allow the British public he has stiffed for several millions of pounds, to help themselves to an equivalent amount of merchandise.

Deport Fayed. Nationalise Harrods. And spend its revenue on providing access to justice for those who need it.

So, They're Staying In Iraq After All, Are They?

They should bring themselves home instead. No need to tell Brown and Browne that they're doing it, though. Indeed, every reason not to. The sight of them marching through the streets, amid cheering and flag-waving crowds, would bring down the Political Class without a shot's needing to be fired.

Freedom For ALL Of China

Including Tibet. See Dispatches at 8pm on Channel Four tonight. Tibet is supposed to be exempt from the one child policy, but forced sterilisations are going on there. They shouldn't be, because they shouldn't be going on anywhere.
