I am going to start giving my ethnicity on forms as “high yellow”, since apparently that is indeed a reference to my sort and not in fact anything to do with the once-popular children’s rhyme, “Chinese, Japanese, dirty knees, Margolyes”. Yesterday was vintage for car crash television, what with Miriam and then the interviews given to Channel 4 News by Nadine Dorries and to Newsnight by Laila Cunningham.
And taking the term rather more literally, having once holidayed at Holme House, I watched Look North in the hope of spotting old friends. None was apparent, so those boys were clearly nothing like what they thought they were. But by whom was this sponsored? Black & Decker? Jaffa Cakes? The Orange Order and the Royal Black Institution? Or all of the above? Give reasons for your answer.
