Some newer editions of the clearly AI picture of the RAF Fairford arrestees show five of them after all, but the original depiction of four, to illustrate the announcement of five arrests, is still out there and always will be. In either case, none of them looks Russian, and at least one does not look at all Middle Eastern, either.
Although neither is very plausible, the American claim to have had these men under surveillance for "a long time" is wholly incompatible with the British claim to have picked them up after a chance tip-off from a member of the public who had spotted them going for a walk in the woods in the early hours of the morning.
And Donald Trump calls RAF Fairford "our fort". With everyone from Peter Hitchens to Will Hutton calling for a British Gaullism, then not only are the American bases on our soil among the most obvious places to start, but they are by some distance the most urgent.
