If there had been no American airstrikes against Iran this time next week, then Donald Trump must have done a deal with the regime. Possibly even if there were. But certainly if there were not. As in Venezuela, all that matters to him is who can best give him control over where the oil and gas went. Some of us have opposed every regime change adventure, and we have been proved right every time.
One such is Jeremy Corbyn, whom Zarah Sultana has listed without his consent on her slate of candidates for the Central Executive Committee of Your Party. Does Sultana imagine that without her hallowed endorsement, Corbyn would not have been elected? Yes. Yes, she does.
Sultana was a Labour MP in this Parliament until the Whip was suspended. MPs who had not been elected on the Labour ticket, but had already beaten the Labour machine thereby proving their mettle, should have been told her stick with Keir Starmer, whose view that Peter Mandelson was the most diplomatic choice for Ambassador to the United States made both of them demonstrably unfit.
