Break The ICE

Andy Burnham’s mayoralty incorporates the role of Police and Crime Commissioner, so he would have to resign it if elected to Parliament. But why? Police and Crime Commissioners are being abolished. More broadly, Boris Johnson remained Mayor of London for a year after he had returned to the House of Commons, and Dan Jarvis was a sitting MP for all four of his years as Mayor first of Sheffield City Region and then of South Yorkshire. All I am saying is that it can be done.

Anyway, here we are again. Every dozen or so years, along comes another “British FBI”. The latest is be the National Police Service (NPS), which would combine the last one, the National Crime Agency, with Counter Terrorism Police, Regional Organised Crime Units, National Road Policing, and police helicopters. All under the Home Secretary, whoever that may be at any future time, and who will also have the power to dismiss Chief Constables, themselves vastly reduced in number yet still expected to handle everything else.

The NPS would bring to this country the ways of United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and by no means only under Donald Trump. Five-year-olds lifted from school and used to bait their parents? Barack Obama used to keep them in cages, with no parents either in sight or on site. Rather than unleash ICE wannabes on our streets, we should criminalise support for the original.

A few hours ago at Wormwood Scrubs, the supporters of Umer Khalid, who like all the Palestine Action prisoners is on remand charged with nonviolent offences, attained legendary status in the annals of British protest when they broke into prison. But there is still a stronger case to proscribe the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps than to proscribe Palestine Action, since there would be a stronger case to proscribe almost anything other than Palestine Action, but if the IRGC were indeed to be proscribed, or even if it were not, then the Mojahedin-e-Khalq should be restored to that status, which it should never have lost. Put down an all-or-nothing measure to proscribe the IRGC, the MEK, and ICE.

Palestine Action was proscribed by an all-or-nothing measure that required any MP voting against it to vote against banning both the Russian Imperial Movement, and the Maniacs Murder Cult, which is part of the Order of the Nine Angels, itself part of the subculture that gives me most of my grief. Satanism is real, let me assure you. Now, since they needed to be banned at the same time as the feared Palestine Action, tell us about the progress of what must have been the urgently necessary action against the Russian Imperial Movement and against the Maniacs Murder Cult. They do not sound like blind wheelchair users or octogenarian clergywomen silently holding up signs. They sound almost as nasty as ICE. Or the National Police Service.
