Don't Be Raabed

Boris Johnson cannot possibly get well too soon, as the alternative is rule by Dominic Raab, of Harry Dunn and Anne Sacoolas infamy. With a majority of only 2,743, his seat is ripe for the picking. It matters not by whom.

Johnson offers the prospect of One Nation politics, with an equal emphasis on the One and on the Nation, using Brexit as a double opportunity, both to reorganise the British economy under State direction, and to begin to develop a fully independent British foreign policy, including in relation to the United States, with military force used only ever in self-defence. There would be none of that from Raab.

Just as there would be none of that from the newly announced Shadow Cabinet, which is notable for the moving of Emily Thornberry, who has been an outspoken and articulate critic of this country's craven attitude to Saudi Arabia and to its war on Yemen, from the position of Shadow Foreign Secretary.

But Raab is not Prime Minister, nor is the Shadow Cabinet in government. Johnson remains, and The Centre is the think tank for this new era. Please give generously.
