Three's A Crowd

Imagine that in 1944, we had decided to declare war on the Soviet Union as well as on the Third Reich, thereby turning the War into a three-way fight. Well, the Americans, at least, have just done much the same thing. They have committed an act of war against the indispensable Iranian enemy of the so-called Islamic State, so that the war against IS has suddenly been made triangular.

Mike Pompeo believes that God has sent Donald Trump to save Israel from Iran, but Israel itself is staying out of all of this, and Trump's targets in Iran would include both the Tomb of Ezekiel and the Tomb of Ezra, as well as the three Armenian monastic ensembles of Saint Thaddeus, Saint Stepanos, and the Chapel of Dzordzor.

Without Qassem Soleimani, then there would now be no Christians in Syria. They would all be dead. Iraq and Lebanon would have been next. And Egypt, and the land that was Palestine from 1918 to 1948, would have been next after that, in a joint effort with the Israelis, who already treat IS fighters at a field hospital in the Golan Heights to which Priti Patel attempted to divert British aid money.

Even if the Iranians had last night killed American personnel in Iraq (and they never have yet, unless anyone believes that a mob in Baghdad needed a General in Tehran to organise it), then that would not have been our problem, in the way that the Argentine invasion of the Falkland Islands in 1982 was not the Americans' problem. Sometimes, your allies fall out. Our enemy is the so-called Islamic State, and it is therefore no more the Islamic Republic of Iran than it is the United States of America.

Donald Trump knew that General Soleimani was in Baghdad at the Iraqi Government's invitation as part of a peace mission, so this murder was the war crime of perfidy. It has damaged, perhaps irreparably, the fight against IS. Therefore, all British military personnel should be withdrawn from Iraq forthwith. The battle against the terrorist acts that Saudi Arabia inspires, funds and directs is now on the streets of Britain, where Saudi Arabia commits them. We must do absolutely nothing that might occasion Iran to do likewise.

I will be standing for Parliament again here at North West Durham next time, so please give generously. In any event, please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.

  1. Without looking it up, who even is the Foreign Secretary? It's not you and that's the problem.

    1. So far, the Government has not done as badly as it might have done. Badly. But not that badly.

    1. How did yours?

Twice as many votes as I had expected, so I am still a candidate. I always said that if I got 200 votes, which I didn't expect, then I'd keep going. Well, I got 414, so here I am.

    2. Try and imagine them knowing what the Chapel of Dzordzor was, Mr. L. You should have been in Parliament for 15 years by now.

  3. Without looking it up who even are any of the Labour leadership candidates? According to polling even Labour members don’t know most of them...

The Tories made the excellent decision of choosing a high-profile, popular leader to fight the elf him and it paid off.

    1. That wasn't why they won. But no, this is not much of a field.
