Dig For Victory

On the day that Conservative MPs were demanding the right to attend the Durham Miners' Gala (to which anybody can just turn up; do you think that the Labour Party would choose to have me there?) the Government assured the new Conservative MP for Rother Valley that there would be no return to fracking.

The Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat members of Cumbria County Council have already unanimously approved a new deep coalmine at Whitehaven. As soon as Margaret Thatcher died, then we knew that the miners would be back.

As soon as Jeremy Corbyn became the Leader of the Opposition, then we knew that the miners would be back within 10 years. As soon as Donald Trump became the President of the United States, then we knew that, by crossparty consensus, the miners would be back within five years. And now, here we are. Greta who?

I will be standing for Parliament again here at North West Durham next time, so please give generously. In any event, please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
