Yes, the Puerto Rican bust of Mountbatten made out of lard is a laugh-out-loud moment in Andrew Roberts's famous chapter on him in Eminent Churchillians.
But for me, the real gem is between the thought of him at Sir Billy Butlin's Variety Club dinner, and the fact that he catalogued his own relatives using a system designed for pedigree cattle.
Mountbatten, that is. Not Roberts.
I did think of writing Eminent Blairians. Until I realised that there had never been any. As for Eminient Corbynians, I intend to be, not the author, but one of the subjects.
