Shaken To The Core

Purely as a matter of fact, the second EU referendum is probably now going to happen no matter who wins the General Election.

But talk of Labour deals with the SNP, like the continued mention of the IRA even though it is a wholly failed tactic the use of which has at least coincided with a breathtaking reduction in the original Conservative poll lead, is a sign that the Conservative Party is down to a core vote strategy.

It is no longer attempting to pick up any new votes. It is just desperate that anyone who would in any case have voted for it, if they had voted at all, bothers to turn out on Thursday.

Those people are still far from convinced that Theresa May is not coming after their houses.
