Secure and Respected?

Private Eye hits the nail on the head:

"We have all had unrivalled experience in organising the hugely successful military interventions in such places as Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria and therefore know what we are talking about when it comes to keeping Britain secure and respected throughout the world."

Such right-wing opposition to the EU as there is, is in the bewildering position that the Conservative Party, the City, big business in general, the military top brass, the right-wing papers once it comes to the crunch, and the monarchy before this is over, are all lined up squarely on the other side.

But after the last 15 years, the rest of us are pretty much living in post-Vietnam America, with the bemedalled barely even socially acceptable, still less seen as legitimate participants in the political process.

Something that in any case we always used to pride ourselves that they were not, in this country. Not even in retirement.

Bringing us to the £16,800 donation to the "office and work" of Dan Jarvis.

"Why don't you just get involved in the Labour Party?", those active in Momentum are asked. Well, Peter Hearn, why didn't you just give this money to the Labour Party? That is not a rhetorical question.

You have wasted it, anyway. There may one day be a coup in that party. But there will never be a military coup. The Barnsley Pinochet can keep his electrodes to himself.
