Like Nick Cohen, whom I hope is exactly as proud as he ought to be of the audience that he has chosen, Steerpike knows perfectly well that George Galloway was not invited to the hustings that he is ridiculed for not having attended.
That is the real story here. But it would take a real journalist to report it.
The bookies, far more reliable than the pollsters as you know, still have him at third. If his second preferences are what swing it for Sadiq we'll never hear the end of it. Anyway he'll be back, he never really goes away. He was meant to lose his deposit at Bradford West in 2012 and look how that turned out.
ReplyDeleteThe most notable thing about his critics is that none of them has ever so much as sought election to anything in his life.
DeleteNo surprise there, of course. Who would vote for Nick Cohen, or David Aaronovitch, or Oliver Kamm, or any of that lot?
Cohen, who is now completely obsessed with Galloway, ought to undertake to contest any seat that Galloway did in 2020. Or else shut the ell up.
Private Eye is also obsessed with Galloway, and Kamm, who like Douglas Murray has a lot of influence at the newly neocon Eye, says on Twitter that the last thing Christopher Hitchens ever said to him was to keep on Galloway's case.
ReplyDelete“If he [Khan] wins, I’ll be a candidate in the Tooting parliamentary by-election swiftly thereafter,” he grins.
