John Mills was on Any Questions last night. For that, there will be trouble once the regular editor is back from holiday. But it will be too late.
Mills was absolutely spot on. He gave the Labour Party a taxable income stream by giving it shares. How could anyone possibly object to that? How much tax does the Conservative Party pay on any of its income?
As to his number one present priority, which did not come up, Tom Watson has not today broken ranks by calling for an In-Out referendum on EU membership on the day of next year's European Elections. He has announced that, long predicted here and elsewhere, as Labour Party policy.
But only the Government can hold a referendum, and Labour will not be the Government on the day of next year's European Elections. Over, then, to those who will be.
