Of all the wicked things that the Blair Government did, none in domestic policy was worse than the confused signal that it sent out about cannabis, a signal sent out pursuant to a House of Commons Committee Report signed, not by the Tory Angela Watkinson, but nevertheless by the then-rising Unconservative David Cameron.

Venables, meanwhile, is now no more the business of Denise Fergus than he is the business of you or me. No less so. But no more so, either.
