Taking Care

Free personal care for the elderly is like abolition of hospital car-parking charges, and abolition of undergraduate fees. Any preferential spending in Scotland must be extended to the whole United Kingdom, paid for by a reduction in the block grant to the Scottish devolved body, which has its own revenue-raising powers with which to make up the shortfall. Easy.

  1. Abolish devolution and the stealth breakup of the Union.

    Even easier.

  2. Actually, we should simply do this - equal currently preferential funding by cutting the block grant - while having Westminister legislate supremely as a matter of course for all parts of the United Kingdom. That is what the devolution legislation says, so that is what the people who voted Yes voted for.
