Will Baby Doc hold North Antrim for his dynasty? Will Jim Allister take it for the TUV? Or will the latter split the former's vote sufficiently to let in someone who will take David Cameron's Whip?
If anything, the last outcome would be the worst. The UUP is filling the void left by the DUP and becoming the voice of critical Unionism, but from a fundamentally integrationist rather than a fundamentalist-separatist perspective.
Part and parcel of that must be support for the rural and working-class economic populism of Papa Doc at his best. Not a link-up with a force and figure no more populist economically than conservative morally and socially, or patriotic in all directions, whether towards to the EU or the US, Israel or the Gulf monarchs.
