Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza was founded by the Church Mission Society in 1882, run by the Southern Baptists from 1954 to 1982, and then taken over by the local Anglican diocese. Impeccable Anglo-American Evangelical credentials, and links to the Church of England. That was what was bombed on 17 October 2023. And that is what has just been bombed again now that it is the only fully functional hospital left in Gaza. In 2023, the IDF tried to blame Palestinian Islamic Jihad. But last night, it was no longer attempting any such pretence.
If Israel has the right to refuse admission to British MPs on official business, not only to its own territory but also to land that it merely occupied, then why does China not have the right to refuse admission to a British MP who was at least officially paying a social call to territory that had always been indisputably Chinese, since Britain had only ever leased it for a fixed period of time? One or the other, please.
"What are you going to do?", Israel's partisans sneered on behalf of a country that we armed. But China does not need us to arm it. Until recent days, we were content to become dependent on it for the steel from which our arms to Israel were made.
Only you would say this out loud.
