Four years ago, under Boris Johnson, Liz Truss proudly lowered to five pounds the fee for a Gender Recognition Certificate. If the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Equalities, Kemi Badenoch, raised any objection, then there is no record of it. A few weeks later, Johnson made her Minister of State for the same portfolio.
Truss was also a Remainer. This is not a question of standing in rival traditions going back to a referendum 50 years ago and to debates anything up to 25 more years before that. Truss is only two years older than I am. She voted and campaigned for Remain in 2016, when I and mine voted and campaigned for Leave.
Five years later, she, and in this case also Johnson and Badenoch, brought the cost of a GRC down to a fiver. Some of us were already well into that fight then, too. Again, we were on the other side. By the way, Robert Jenrick was also a Remainer, and as a Leadership candidate as recently as last year, he told Times Radio that the question of whether a man could have a vagina was "a complicated topic".
You cannot trust any of these people on either of these issues, and you cannot trust Sarah Pochin at all. At Runcorn and Helsby, and then at Hampstead and Highgate now that the BBC is showing a full report on Sheikh Hasina's torture chambers, vote for the Workers Party.
No one cuts through the cant the way you do.
ReplyDeletePeople are rightly laying into Labour, the Lib Dems and the SNP, but they are not the only ones.
