Unlike The Roman

You cannot be a refugee from Albania, if that is where a lot of these ethnic Albanians are really from, but you still should not be kept in the conditions at Manston, which is clearly in the process of being closed down along with Suella Braverman.

Braverman is being widely compared to Enoch Powell, but she is about to sink back into the obscurity that he never experienced. If there was ever a taboo against discussion of immigration, then I must have been in a coma. And while I was not, then Powell, well into old age, was the only person who ever appeared as part of all such discussions, when he was invariably treated as the expert. His newspaper articles were also published regularly. Some pariah. Like the rest of today's Right, Braverman will be getting none of that.

  1. Thank you so much for this here and on Guido, I thought no one would ever say it out loud. Powell was everywhere for 30 years after the Rivers of Blood speech.

    1. And always treated as the expert in the extremely frequent debates about immigration. Before that speech, he was the kind of person of whom the politically aware had heard. After it, he spent several years as one of the most famous people in the country, and he remained far better-known that the average politician for the rest of his long life.

  2. “You cannot be a refugee from Albania”

You also cannot be a “refugee” from France, which is where all these illegal migrants come from.

Understand that, and you will understand all the drivel about refugees “fleeing war and persecution” is leftwing propaganda for mass illegal immigration that will change this country permanently into somewhere else. Supporters of this disgrace are attempting to distract attention from the cross-Channel invasion by focusing on Mansten (as if that is the real problem here). Mansten is overcrowded (despite the British paying £6 million A DAY for other migrants to stay in hotels) because so many of them are coming here. You could book up all the hotels in Britain for illegal immigrants and it wouldn’t be enough, until we stop the crossings.

Braverman at least understands that problem, which is why the anti-British, anti-borders Left hates her so much.

    1. They are the least of her worries. She will blame them forever, and there will be an audience for that. Just not a very big audience, with barely any of it in Britain.

  3. I could care less about her, I care about the country, and what I said is true. Labour slyly pretends to be in favour of stopping the illegal migrant crossings (because it knows that’s what most voters want) but as Sunak said at PMQs today, they have voted against every Tory measure to stop them, from the Nationality and Borders Act to the Rwanda deportations.

Thats because the Left is really in favour of limitless illegal immigration but it knows most British voters are not.

    1. It must have been in power for a very long time at the insistence of very big business, then. That is your cue to froth that it has been.

When she goes, then it will be the end of you in anything like the political or, very quickly, the media mainstream. And she will be going very soon.

  4. The Left has opposed every measure to prevent the migrant crossings such as those I just named.

As a Corbyn supporter you should certainly know what it’s like to live in the wilderness as a political leper. But if you knew anything about politics you’d know why Sunak has to be seen to be tough on this issue, whether through Braverman or someone else on the Right.

    1. That I was a Corbyn supporter would have come as news to them.

Enjoy oblivion. Thanks to the old Queen's death, you had six weeks rather than three. But it's all over now.

  5. Oblivion? The Far Left soon won’t have a single MP in Parliament. They’re radioactive. The public want a much tougher response than Braverman, so if she was removed her replacement would be more pro-Rwanda and anti illegal migration than her. Even Labour has to pretend to be tough on this. It’s the open-borders Left (the Corbyn crowd) who no one listens to on this or anything else.

    1. I laughed out loud at every word of that. Even the Daily Express is now ignoring this story. Beyond Allison Pearson, so is the Daily Telegraph. Beyond Dan Wootton, the Daily Mail is running sympathetic stories about the children. You will be lucky to get Sajid Javid as the next Home Secretary.

As for having no seats, you are all clearing off to Reform, which is never going to win one. Five to 10 per cent of Conservative Party members have already joined that doomed enterprise, which in any case makes a point of never mentioning immigration, but only tax cuts. You are finished. Thank Liz Truss.

  6. Ignoring this story? It’s the main news items again on the BBC and every other publication this morning you delusional clown. The story will only get bigger and public anger greater with every increase in the £6 million a day taxpayer bill for illegal immigrant hotels and every new crime committed by an illegal immigrant who absconded. Furious councils have already got injunctions against taking more of them due to public anger.

Sunak (and even Labour) now have to be seen to be tougher on illegal immigration so even if Braverman goes, her replacement would also be from the Right. The Far Left meanwhile is finished, a leper in the Labour Party. Thank Corbyn for that.

  7. The Labour Party? Who cares?

This story is now all about children's being sexually assaulted on Braverman's watch, so she is toast, as is the Right of which she is the last significant representative. This has been put out there for that purpose.

And here comes the longest recession since records began. Do not expect much news other than that for anything like the foreseeable future.

  8. Public anger against illegal immigration always increases during a recession. Good luck with explaining that £6 million daily bill (for five-star hotels for illegal immigrants) to hard-pressed taxpayers suffering under inflation.

As I say, both parties are now adopting rightwing rhetoric on this issue. They know which way the wind is blowing. Braverman will probably stay, and any replacement for her will be even more rightwing anyway.

Meanwhile the Far Left has been driven out of the Labour Party and is now politically homeless.

    1. That last line is comedy gold. You really do think that that is how it works. You must be a Labour Party employee. They really do believe that, the simple little souls that they are.

This story is now about Braverman the nonce-enabler. They only press that button when they really do want to blow someone to smithereens. They have just pressed it against her, and thus against everything she stands for and everyone who stands for that. It's over.

  9. As I say it has nothing to do with Braverman, it’s far bigger than her. The issue of mass illegal migration isn’t going away and indeed is only going to incite ever more anger the more economic hardship taxpayers have to endure.

The British public will continue to ask with ever more bitterness, why are we paying to put up hundreds of thousands of Albanians and illegal migrants from France in five-star hotels so they can join the growing foreign criminal underworld, while this country is in recession?

Only the Right has the answer to that and has indeed been saying it forever.

It’s a fact the Far Left is politically homeless-the Labour Party is the only Parliamentary Opposition unless you wish to join the Lib Dems or Greens, (but I doubt they’d have the Far Left either). That leaves you alone and howling in the wilderness.
