The Joker In The Pack?

If you leave your job voluntarily, then you cannot sign on. But if you resign as Education Secretary after a mere 36 hours, then you get a payout of £16,876.25. Nice "work" if you can get it.

Still, no one can claim not to have known what Boris Johnson was like. On 24th March 2015, I wrote:

Any party that could seriously consider being led by Boris Johnson is itself profoundly unserious.

We are famous the world over for our humour. That is because we are fundamentally a serious country. There are joke countries, and they are not remotely funny to live in. But Britain is not a joke country, and it does not want a joke Prime Minister.

Yet that is what the Right in Britain now is. A public school lark. A parade of contrived eccentrics. Adding to the gaiety of the nation, at least in small doses. But never, under any circumstances, to be allowed anywhere near the running of anything.

Brace yourselves, because there is going to be a Resignation Honours List. The DBE for all the babymommas. Apart from Carrie, of course. She is to be created Baroness Johnson of Swallowhead.

Enough of a fuss was made in order to make Dominic Raab the Deputy Prime Minister, so why is he not the caretaker Prime Minister? That said, it will soon be the school holidays, so the job should be done by an actual caretaker. I dare those coked up boys to get wine on the walls under him. Or to be rude to the cleaning ladies.

Has Johnson been Britain's worst ever Prime Minister? Ask them if they think that in Libya, Iraq or Afghanistan. And the people who are saying it now did not say it at the time. They invoke the folk demon Jeremy Corbyn, whom I defy anyone to say looked particularly unattractive today, but they did not merely try to make Johnson Prime Minister. They succeeded.

This is addressed as much to Richard Holden as to anyone else. I like Richard. I like a lot of what he is doing, or trying to do. But I am still standing again next time. By the way, there is no Labour candidate here at North West Durham, nor any sign that there is ever going to be one. But then, Johnson's pack of attack dogs included almost all of the Parliamentary Labour Party. What, exactly, did Keir Starmer do to bring about a Corbyn Government?

Starmer's fixed penalty notice, universally known about in these parts, was delayed for the Wakefield by-election, and its announcement is being delayed at least until after the Conservative Leadership Election, if not until after a General Election that, assuming a Thursday, need not be held until 23rd January 2025.

Starmer is never going to pay, no one is ever going to do anything about that, and no one is ever officially going to know that he was fined. Tell me how a Labour Government would be any better. Or, if you are in North West Durham, vote for me instead of either of them.
