If the Sunday Times thinks that Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty are worth £730 million, then that is a serious underestimate, and one has to wonder why it has been made.
As was widely pointed out, by avoiding £20 million in tax despite having £27 billion, Sunak and Murty were in the same position as if they had had £27,000 yet had gone to the trouble of avoiding a charge of £20.
In the midst of what we are all euphemistically calling the cost of living crisis, the problem is not that the do-nothing Chancellor of the Exchequer is rich. Compared to most people, all MPs are rich. The problem is that he is greedy.
He seems to have no self-awareness.
