A recent Labour Party report revealed that while he was its London Regional Director, Neil Fleming employed the Angry Black Woman trope against Diane Abbott. BAME Labour MPs should refuse the whip while Fleming remained a party member in good standing.
BAME people, of whom I am one, should withhold their votes from the Labour Party at the 2021 elections for Mayor of London and for the list section of the London Assembly. They should vote instead for an anti-racist candidate and an anti-racist list that supported economic equality and international peace through the democratic political control of the means to those ends.
Fleming is now the Head of Media Relations UK at HSBC. There should be street demonstrations outside its headquarters in Birmingham if he remained in its employ after the lockdown. Such demonstrations, as well as a campaign of boycott and divestment, should be held in unison with those who objected to the recent decision of HSBC to cancel standing orders to Interpal. A West Midlands Mayoral candidate of that mind would deserve support.
