The Plurinational State No More

Whatever the rights or wrongs of Evo Morales as a politician, the first Amerindian President anywhere has been overthrown by an American-backed military coup, and that in an overwhelmingly Amerindian or part-Amerindian country.

The white five per cent of Bolivia now holds every position in a regime that has just granted immunity from future prosecution to its Police and to its Armed Forces. There has not been a cause more central to the anti-racist struggle since the fight against apartheid in South Africa.

As Latin America rises, who in British politics has any specialist knowledge of it? In the last House of Commons, only Jeremy Corbyn and Chris Williamson sprang to mind, with George Galloway also active in both the old and the new media. The Right can whinge about their analysis, but it cannot question their knowledge, which it has chosen not to share.

The re-election of Chris at Derby North is therefore imperative, as is the election of George at West Bromwich East. And if you wanted at least one other member of the next hung Parliament who was willing to listen to the people who had bothered to learn the facts, then I am standing here at North West Durham. The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
