The State of Whom, Exactly?

Of course the Conservative Party ought to stay as far away as possible from the issue of immigration, on which its record is one of comical failure. No specific commitment on numbers will appear in its manifesto this time.

It would also do well to keep Priti Patel out of view. If there are people who can stand her, then they must already be voting for her party. Patel is one of no fewer than three high caste Hindus, a tiny proportion of the British population, in the present Cabinet. They are aghast at being associated with lower-born brown persons, never mind with the blacks. Various aspects of domestic and foreign policy reflect their importance as a Conservative vote bank in certain key marginal seats.

But things are no better on the other side, in the funny little world of Laura Pidcock. Try and plan an economy while having no idea how many people you were planning it with or for? Honestly, the state of them these days. The state of whom, exactly? Well, that is a good question. To have arrived at "free movement" among other conclusions (support for the EU, gender self-identification, anti-industrial Malthusianism), what on the Left can they ever have read? Little or nothing, I reckon.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. I am standing for Parliament here at North West Durham. The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
