Values Diverge

Alan Beith used to vote against abortion when he was Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats, and of course David Alton sat as a Liberal and then a Lib Dem MP. Four Lib Dem MPs voted against same-sex marriage.

But now Rob Flello cannot even be a parliamentary candidate for that party, because of his views on those issues. Then again, with views like that, he could not be a first time Labour or Conservative candidate, either.

The Guido Fawkes blog attacks potential Labour candidates from certain religious backgrounds who tweeted against the same-sex marriage legislation at the time. It attacks them specifically for having done so. The line from the people running the Conservative Party is clearly that such views were and are the Mark of the Beast of Bigotry. As for abortion, let's just say "Boris Johnson" and leave it at that.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. I am standing for Parliament here at North West Durham. The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
