As Sweden drops its investigation into a "rape" that would not have been classified as any such thing anywhere else, Julian Assange, who has served his time for skipping bail, ought to be released immediately.
None of these people ought to be re-elected, but Chris Williamson must be at Derby North. George Galloway should be elected at West Bromwich East (what a pity that he did not go for Birmingham Yardely), both for Assange and because, with the Maxwells back from wherever it is that they have been, we urgently need the man who knows everything about them to be able to say it under parliamentary privilege.
And whereas Laura Pidcock, supposedly the Great Hope of the Left, has said and done absolutely nothing for Julian Assange, I invited him to become one of my Campaign Patrons, but his lawyer wrote back to say that he was too ill to accept.
