That is up to her.
I am standing for the seat where I have lived since before she was born, supported by distinguished local figures who have never met her. It makes no difference to me who any other candidate is, least of all one who had never set eyes on North West Durham at the turn of 2017.
I have nothing against her, but I have never understood the hype. She has no policies, and, in nearly two years, no specific achievements. She just has an accent that, to put it politely, belies her upper-middle-class origins, but which sounds "Geordie" in London.
The Constituency Labour Party was allowed no role in selecting her. She has still never met leading local figures. They introduce me at funerals as, "The man who should have been our MP." But they have been doing that since she was still in school. I am standing against whoever else puts up. It is not about her.
Another hung Parliament is coming, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post. I will stand for this seat, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
