The Pits

In a quarter of a century of political activism, I have seen some pretty despicable things. But the Labour MPs for former mining seats applauding Michael Heseltine, and castigating Jeremy Corbyn for not having shared a platform with him? That marks a new low. And even when Corbyn is Prime Minister, then there will still be rank on rank of these people on the benches behind him.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post. I will stand for this seat, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.

  1. You’ll wake up to what Peter Hitchens has said since before the referendum soon. Voting Leave then voting for pro E.U Labour/Tory was never going to work.

We’re all realising he was right now.

    1. Including in the referendum, he hasn't voted at all in years. I am not sure whether or not it would be nice to be able to afford that particular luxury. I suspect not. And in any case, someone is always going to win, whether or not you yourself vote.
