As Baghuz falls, remember that the so-called Islamic State was the side that the British Government wanted to bomb Syria in order to support. Doubtless, an invasion would have followed.
Iraq was supposed to have been a different story, which was a ridiculous proposition in itself. But when Shamima Begum went off to join IS in Syria, then she went off to join the British Government's preferred side in Syria.
Most MPs have learned nothing from that, and they would now deny what the rest of us can clearly remember. Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it.
It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post.
I will stand for this seat, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
