The Fall of Baghouz

The so-called Islamic State is entirely a product of the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

In 2013, only the vigilance of the underrated Ed Miliband, against the people who are now trying to overthrow Jeremy Corbyn, kept us from waging war on Syria on its behalf.

But now, it is about to lose its last square mile of territory, to the people whom David Cameron and the other remaining cultists of Tony Blair had wanted to bomb.

Although the idea lives on. 27 dead and 13 injured in Iran at the hands of Jaish al-Adl, which is where Jundullah went, pretty much.

Are the Revolutionary Guard bad? Yes. Is Assad bad? Yes. But would the alternatives be even worse? Oh, yes, indeed.

And unlike the present regimes in Syria and Iran, they would be our declared and active enemies. The likes of Hezbollah are many things, but they are not the enemies of Britain. Nor will they be. Unless we made enemies of them.

Most Labour MPs, and most or all Conservatives, are worse than useless on this. Another hung Parliament is coming, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it.

It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post.

I will stand for this seat, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
