The Concentration of Camp

Jacob Rees-Mogg's overly long day in the sun probably ended on Thursday evening, when he defended the British concentration camps during the Boer War.

Unlike his father, he knows almost nothing. He just chooses to speak like that, quite unlike any of the numerous other Old Etonians in public life today.

But he really has delighted us for long enough this time. Still, think of it like this.

The previous generation of the Loony Right, and some of his own before they accepted the office that he has pointedly never been offered, would never have said such a thing.

They, you see, worshipped the Boers' revenge republic, and they were not infrequently on its payroll.

So there is that.
