On workers' rights, Theresa May has always talked a good game. But there has never been anything to show for it. Is she going to repeal the Trade Union Act? Well, there you are, then. And if we needed the EU for workers' rights, then there would be no point having either a British Parliament or a British Labour Movement.
In point of fact, the workers had far more power, and they received a far bigger slice of the cake, before we went into that wretched thing than they do now, 46 years later. Indeed, it is even worse than that. Today, one in five children lives with adults who cannot afford to buy food. So much for the EU, when that is what two generations of it has led us to become.
Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and our people need to hold the balance of power in it. It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post. I will stand for this seat, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
