No matter how many Conservative MPs had wanted a No Deal Brexit, as in any case no more than one in three of them did, Theresa May was simply never going to have one. Off the table? It has never been on any table of hers.
Likewise, no matter how many Labour MPs had wanted a second referendum, as in any case barely one in four of them did, Jeremy Corbyn was simply never going to support one.
And so much for his having turned Labour into a party of the metropolitan elite. Not only has he ruled out a Right People's Vote to overturn the Wrong People's Vote, but he has done so through the decidedly non-metropolitan and non-elite voices of Ian Lavery and Angela Rayner.
