All credit to Mary Creagh for proposing a Minister for Hunger, but the fact that, right here in the fifth largest economy in the world, one in five children lives with adults who cannot afford to buy food is due to 42 years and counting of the policies that she supports, as implemented in government by all three parties, and as still supported by the great majority of all three parties' MPs.
Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and our people need to hold the balance of power in it. It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post.
