From Top To Bottom

A few minutes ago, at one o'clock this afternoon, the average the average CEO of a FTSE 100 company made as much in 2019 as the average worker will make all year.

Theresa May promised to give shareholders control over executive pay. How has that ever not been the case, since it is their money? But, characteristically, she has done nothing to make good on that. Oh, well, she does have a party to contend with. As, of course, does Jeremy Corbyn, whose MPs mostly continue to venerate the man who caused the problem in the first place.

Shareholders should indeed have control over executive pay. And it should be illegal to pay any employee more than 10 times the pay of any other employee, or contractor, or however they tried to play it.

Another hung Parliament is coming, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post. I will stand for this seat, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
