Elevate Equality

I am going to be nice, or at least fair, to Laura Pidcock.

Hey, in my time, I have given her a standing ovation, for her keynote address to a Momentum conference that must have been held in 2016 or very early the following year.

In her maiden speech, she said that she disliked Parliament and did not want to be there. Accordingly, she has barely attended it.

That differentiates her from Jeremy Corbyn and Dennis Skinner, who have always been assiduous attendees. It places her outside Bennism, which reveres the institution of the House of Commons.

But she would hold that it had freed her to concentrate on grassroots activism. That activism often does matter more than much of what goes on in Parliament, in ordinary times.

These, however, are not ordinary times. And even if they were, then we in North West Durham would still have only one Member of Parliament. We are entitled to be represented by her.

I will stand for this parliamentary seat of North West Durham, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
