It turns out that, unless Priti Patel knows absolutely nothing (and one ought not to discount that possibility), even the Living Wage That Isn't will not apply to the public sector.
Over to the Official Opposition to force a Commons vote on that one, along with everything else, and on making the payment of the real Living Wage a statutory requirement written into all central and local government contracts.
Why is the new minimum wage going to be £7.20 per hour? Simply because a household with two earners at £7.25 per hour would be above the £30,000 threshold for the "pay to stay" tax on social housing.
