While The Iron Is Hot

The barristers are going on strike. Seriously. In support of the striking solicitors. Again, seriously.

When the Government's Bill on trade unions comes before the House of Commons, then Labour ought to put down an amendment restricting all personal donations to a political party to the level of the political levy, three pounds per annum, and banning corporate donations outright.

Who could possibly object to that, and why?

As for the threshold, going on about MPs is the wrong approach. Rather, the Scottish independence referendum was decided on a majority of those who participated, as will be the referendum on EU membership.

Is a strike ballot more momentous than either and both of those?
