Cutting Through The Balkans

The expulsion of the Serbs from Croatia was the largest act of ethnic cleansing in the whole of the dismemberment of Yugoslavia, and it is only right that someone has finally been convicted in relation to that act of a Holocaust-denying regime which restored to the borders of Italy and Austria the full panoply of 1930s Fascism.

We need to get over the idea that the Serbs were the spawn of Satan, the Croats were sort of all right, and the Muslims were whiter than white. It is a very, very, very long way from the truth. The Croats, in particular, need to be talked out of the threat to their witness as Antemurale Christianitatis in the form of EU membership as surely as they need to be talked out of the threat to that witness in the form of the Medjugorje cult.

And they need to brought, in all charity, to an appreciation of their error in siding with neoconservatives abroad, and with Islamists both at home and abroad, in destroying the latest in the series of multiethnic entities within and to which Providence had called and commissioned them to bear their witness. There can be no more rueful souls on earth than the Croats of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the land that Izetbegovic built, where, for example, even the more secular aspects of Christmas and Easter are now banned from the schools.

Still, at least Croats are not constitutionally barred from the Senate and the Presidency. That fate is reserved for the Jews and the Gypsies. But then, Franjo Tudjman opined that he would never allow a Serb, a Jew or a Gypsy to marry into his family. Such were the forces that we classified as the good guys in the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s. If there were any good guys, then they were certainly not the people whom we backed up to the hilt.

  1. i am sorry to say i strong DISAGREE...you have no idea of the terrors of the Serbo Croatian war in fact how dare you assume you are a intellect regarding anything to do with the war

also sir you are NO CHRISTIAN at all to call Medjugorie a cult...HAVE You ever been there? i highly doubt it
also you are wrong to say that about the Serbs and Croatians....

the Serbs wanted to keep Croatia...just like England had Ireland..it was a fight to keep our land and country

compared to the holocaust .....it is minor what the generals did...also you all seen to close your eyes to the atrocities of the Serbs...it was a War !!! of course there would be some inhumanities....
also i wish to point out that no side on any war is clean.....
    i don't think i need to elaborate...

also in relation to medjugorie...i dare you to go there and experience it !
i am not joking...go i challenge you to..it is not right to write on something you have only the faintest clue about
then come back and tell us if you think this is a cult or not...cults are Mormonism, Satanists, Freemason etc... Medjugorie is NOT
it is the Queen of Peace(the holy mother of God) who is trying to get peace for the world

    yours truly
    Leonie

please read Our Ladies latest message for believers and unbelievers

please note that Our Lady said a phrase that She does not say often. The words, “you must.” Our Lady often “invites” us, but the words “you must” are of special significance as in “you have to” do what I say. “You must comprehend,” “you must comprehend,” “you must set out.”

"Dear children! With Motherly love I desire to open the heart of each of you and to teach you personal unity with the Father. To accept this, you must comprehend that you are important to God and that He is calling you individually. You must comprehend that your prayer is a conversation of a child with the Father; that love is the way by which you must set out – love for God and your neighbor. That is, my children, the love that has no boundaries, that is the love that emanates from truth and goes to the end. Follow me, my children, so that also others, in recognizing the truth and love in you may follow you. Thank you."

  2. however i respect you as you are a pro lifer and pro family as i am too...however the differance in years are great as i am only 15 :)

  3. My views on all four of the Yugoslav Wars, Medjugorje, pro-life and pro-family are the views both of the last Pope and of the present one.

  4. Pope John Paul 2 actually was in favor of Medjugorie however until the claimed apparitions stop the Vatican is unable to pronounce whether they are true or not
Pope Benedict also has commented favorable however not as favorably as Pope John Paul
The Miracles in Medj are all genuine..physical and spiritual...
and even if you dont think it is credible that our lady is appearing you must admit that many have returned to the Catholic faith or Christian faith through Medjugorije
it is a very large pro life and pro family place in the world...was the Vatican not skeptical of La Salette, Fatima, Lourdes, Guadalupe etc...and yet in the end the Vatican approved of these apparitions also note that it was always after all apparitions had ceased

i am not aware of the Popes and Church ever calling
" that the Serbs were the spawn of Satan, the Croats were sort of all right, and the Muslims were whiter than whiter."
as such those are your own views .

also I wish to ask do you agree with supporting the EU?

    ReplyDelete
  5. No.

Those are not "my own views", but the views of those who advocated the Western actions in support of the dismemberment of Yugoslavia.

And on Medjugorje, you are just plain wrong, although it is depressingly interesting that this sort of rubbih is clearly being put about in Croatia.

John Paul II refused to go to Medjugorje and forbade anyone else from doing so, while Benedict XVI was Prefect of the CDF when it ruled definitively against the whole thing. In so doing, of course, they were both only confirming and reinforcing the consistent position of the local bishops, who were and are, obviously, Croats.

  6. amending what i said

*i am not aware of the Popes and Church ever saying
" that the Serbs were the spawn of Satan, the Croats were sort of all right, and the Muslims were whiter than whiter."
or the OPPOSITE of it...both sides were to blame however it was the serbs who provoked the war !
as such those are your own views and of the media.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I don't know which media you have in mind.

The war was provoked by the German recognition of the Slovenian and Croatian UDIs. The Germans wanted those former provinces of Austria-Hungary to be back under German control. As, by the way, you would be if you joined the EU. In Tudjman, at least, they had a Balkan leader who positively idolised the wartime collaboration.

I am no great fan of international courts, but, at least where Bosnia was concerned, Serbia has actually been acquitted of waging war. The world is wising up to the far more complex reality, and to the fact that whereas the Serbs were faithful to their historic role in preventing Islamic expansion in Europe, the Croats, once called the Ramparts of Christendom, were not, fought alongside black-shirted Wahhabi in the Nineties as in the Forties, and now have to live with the consequences in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A real Catholic revival among the Croats would be the key to correcting this sorry state of affairs. Such a revival certainly will not come from Medjugorje, and would in fact sweep it away. Just ask the Pope.

  8. i quote what the pope said about the bishop of mostar
"As he is the bishop of that place, you have to respect him.” Then he continued in a cordial tone: “But he will have to answer before God if he has not acted in a right way”. After this, the Pope was pondering a few moments, and then he said: “Today’s world has lost the sense of supernatural, in other words, the sense of God. But many people rediscover this feeling in Medjugorje through prayer, fasting and the sacraments.”
“Look, Medjugorje is a continuation, an extension of Fatima. Our Lady is appearing in communist countries primarily because of problems that originate in Russia”, said the Pope, who already took this as a mission of his pontificate.

Italian priest Fr. Gianni Sgreva - "The young people, who came together in the prayer groups that I followed, in the course of time felt the need for founding a community that would be based on the Medjugorje messages and would indeed thereby be a direct fruit of Medjugorje. I, on the contrary, avoided the very thought of some new community because I already had my way, my vocation, and my work as a professor. Meanwhile, the desire and insistence of the young people for the realization of their needs and goals, grew stronger every day. I made it all known to my spiritual director and my own provincial. They asked me to follow the development of events and I did that. The following question bothered me: how to establish and lead a community that is connected with a reality such as is Medjugorje where yet 'unapproved apparitions' are taking place? Before founding the community I spoke with Cardinal Ratzinger. He listened to everything attentively and instructed me what to do. For Medjugorje he told me, "Don't you worry about the tree, you worry about the fruits, the vocations, and Medjugorje is our concern." I spoke also with the Holy Father. I talked to him about the community and the vocations connected with the experience of Medjugorje. The Holy Father listened to me, drew close to me and right in my ear said to me, reminding me not to forget: "DON'T YOU BE CONCERNED ABOUT MEDJUGORJE, BECAUSE I'M THINKING ABOUT MEDJUGORJE AND I PRAY FOR ITS SUCCESS EVERY DAY. YOU BE CONCERNED WITH THE VOCATIONS AND PRAY FOR ME EVERY DAY"

The Pope said to Fr. Jozo Zovko on the 20th July 1992: "BUSY YOURSELF WITH MEDJUGORJE, LOOK AFTER MEDJUGORJE, DON'T TIRE. PERSEVERE, BE STRONG, I AM WITH YOU. WATCH OVER, FOLLOW MEDJUGORJE."

In a private conversation with the visionary Mirjana Soldo the Pope said: "IF I WERE NOT POPE I WOULD ALREADY BE IN MEDJUGORJE CONFESSING."(1987)

the pope also said to Vicka "PRAY TO THE MADONNA FOR ME, I PRAY FOR YOU."
those are some of the popes statements on medjugorje

  9. Totally false, and thoroughly debunked in numerous places, of which I recommend that you start here:

  10. i have read many blogs and books for and against medjugorie
however my friend Lujica was cured immediately from Leukemia when she went to medjugorje...she was from Dubrovnik and she went there for 1week for the youth festival and when she got back the aggressive cancer that had spread through her bones had gone completly what was more she was meant to go and have an operation a week after she returned however when she went in for scans and check ups it had all dissapeared and she had been at the stage where it was less than a 50% chance of recovery ..the docters were baffled and she has all the doctors reports and evidence to support the truth...the family has sent the case to the vatican. she was 17 at the time

  11. Then wait for what the Vatican says.

  12. i am ....however i have the proof that some supernatural force is at work in the shape of my friend

but at the end i shall respect the Vatican wishes if it proclaims that it is false...however untill then i believe

skeptics against it should also wait before claiming that medjugorje is false, satans work or whatever

  14. Stop This Scandal17 April 2011 at 00:49

Medjugorje is the greatest con and scandal in the Church today and rightly named Megaforgery. It is a money-making machine for so many people and that is why so many defend it vehemently. It can be proved as false in every 'message' that is supposed to come from 'Our Lady'. All these end with the words 'Thank you my dear children for listening to my message'. That anyone of sound mind would believe that the Mother of God would need to thank anyone for listening to her just beggars belief.

And as for the famous Fr. Jozo Zovko, this is the parish priest at the start of the 'apparitions' who told the young 'seers' that he woud prefer Our Lady to appear in his parish church rather on the local hillside and so they complied. What sort of priest dares to instruct the Mother of God where to appear? The verification of any apparition lies with the local bishop and not with a parish priest, or even with the Vatican.

According to the girls they said that Our Lady would appear on three more days only - 1, 2, and 3 July 1981. So much for this 'so-called' promise; the latest tally is around 40,000. I repeat, how can anyone of sound mind, and sound faith, give any credence to these opportunists and their money-making travellers? They have been denounced as liars by their local bishop and his predeccessor. These bishops have warned people not to come but their fellow bishops encourage pilgrimages from their dioceses. There is an official pilgrimage from Hexham and Newcastle diocese going soon and these people are being misled by their priests and bishops who do not have the courage to stop them.

What sort of people are the leading clergy in this scandal? Fr Iveca Vego, OFM, was laicised after making a nun pregnant and then he married her. Fr Jozo Zovko is forbidden to say Mass or preach. Fr Ljudevit Rupcic, OFM, is forbidden to say Mass or preach in Medjugorje. Fr Petar Barbaric, OFM, expelled from the Franciscan Order for disobedience. The list goes on and on.

The six 'seers' are living the high life with plush houses and fancy cars and their families are making fortunes from owing hotels in Megaforgery. Just how blind are people not to see this as a scandal of the worst kind in which they are using the Mother of God as a means of making fortunes.

  15. You are a small man whose only claim to fame to be will have been espousing an ignorant, hateful and patronizing opinion on history, Croatia and the Holy Catholic Church.

    ReplyDelete
  16. You must be thinking of both Popes who have ever expressed an opinion either on the Yugoslav Wars or on Medjugorje.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Franjo Tudjman's daughter Nevenka did marry a Serb Branko Kosutic and had two children from that marriage so your statement is factually wrong and ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  18. No one disputes the quotation. Just look it up. That his daughter did not adhere to her father's strictures is her business. It did not and does alter his very public views.

    ReplyDelete
  19. It would be stupid to say 'I won't allow a Serb marry into my family' 25 years after that already happened, don't you think?

So you look up that quotation and if you find it let us know.

Also you can look up how he treated his two (Serbian) grandsons Dejan and Sinisa Kosutic. To one of them he gave a bank as a gift. (Kaptol banka)

    ReplyDelete
  20. That one approves of something and that one accepts it as an historical fact are two different things. A lesson which you clearly need to learn.

    ReplyDelete
  21. How encouraging, a country where the President gives his grandson a bank. If that grandson was a Serb then he was almost the last Serb left in Croatia. Serbia is a diverse paradise by comparison.

Serbo-Croat Catholics who want to stay loyal to Papal teaching do not move to Croatia. Serbo-Croat Muslims who want traditional Balkan Islam not Wahhabism do not move to Bosnia. Albanians who want traditional Balkan Islam not Wahhabism do not move to Kosovo.

They all stay in what remains of Yugoslavia. Like the Jews and the Roma they do everything possible to save it.
