Drawing The WASPIs' Sting

In anticipation of their court case, the monies sought by the WASPIs will already have been budgeted for by the Government, in case the ruling had been in the WASPIs' favour.

In any case, it is small beer compared to what this Government routinely spends, having realised that it can. The next Budget should simply give the WASPIs what they wanted, and do the same for the victims of the Mineworkers' Pension Scheme scandal, most of whom live in Red Wall constituencies.

There might be a Conservative rebellion against either or both of those measures. Would Labour really supply the votes that defeated such a Budget, no matter what else was in it? A three-line whip to abstain it would have to be, then.
