The proposed pardons for the Scottish miners are a step in the right direction, towards legislation at Westminster that annulled throughout the United Kingdom all convictions and other adverse court decisions arising out of Clay Cross, Shrewsbury, Wapping, and the three Miners' Strikes since 1970.
Does the Government want to hold onto its Red Wall seats, and to capture more of them next time? Well, there you are, then. And while a section of its own party might vote against this, Labour would have to abstain, or even vote in favour. If any Labour MPs did vote against, then it would be good to have flushed them out.
