The second lockdown is now inevitable. Therefore, so is the Universal Basic Income, set at a level no lower than anyone was already receiving in benefits, and paid by the Treasury, so that the Department for Work and Pensions would be abolished.
Not that the argument here is one of affordability; a sovereign state with its own free floating, fiat currency has as much of that currency as it chooses to issue to itself. Rather, this will give everyone an undeniable stake in society while greatly reversing the 40-year concentration of power in the hands of publicly funded middle-class women over everyone else, but especially over working-class men. For that reason, it will be fought to the last ditch by New New Labour, which in any case does not understand how the money supply works. And that will make our eventual victory even more delicious.
Depending on local circumstances, in each constituency at the next General Election there should be one Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat or Independent candidate who subscribed to this and this. The complete list of those candidates would appear here, and anywhere else that we could get to publish it. If I could raise enough money to be a viable candidate, then I would contest the seat where the most people had offered to sign my nomination papers. Please give generously.
