Schools Out

With even parent governors to be abolished, England's schools are being well and truly removed from the public realm.

There is no blaming the Americans for this one. Their directly elected school boards really do run schools in a way that Local Education Authorities never quite have.

Is there anywhere on earth that has ever done this? If there is anywhere, then might there be some reason why nowhere else has followed suit? That is, until now.

  1. Suits you. How many years were a governor starting barely after you had left? When the Labour party removed you from that you carried on going to productions and things, now you even turn up at all the old guard's funerals. Lucky for you your local academy is run by the diocese and you now write for the diocesan newspaper. You never really left and you'll be back soon enough because it is no longer anything to do with parents or local elected representatives.
