Cheap and Nasty

"Can Labour win the next election?"

Jess Phillips: "The honest answer is: no, absolutely not."

But that was on Sunday. So yesterday, she read out on the floor of the House the names of the women who had been murdered by men over the last year.

Who now dares to mention that she so lately ruled out the possibility of victory at the next General Election? Well, I do, for a start.

The sheer unpleasant cheapness of her nasty little gimmick was compounded by the fact that she was flanked by Harriet Harman and by that bloke who arranged with the BBC to resign from the front bench live on air, seconds before the start of Prime Minister's Questions.
