Board Games

If all but two or three of the members of the new BBC Board are indeed to be non-execs appointed by the Secretary of State, then let us assume that there are to be 10 of them.

This Government could really make its point by giving six of those seats, including the Chair, to patrician plutocrats who were socially liberal and (in the American, Israeli and Saudi interests) internationally interventionist, who were ardently pro-EU and fulsomely "Ready for Hillary".

The other four seats could then go to figures from the various component parts of the Corbyn Coalition. The entitled parliamentary and media rump of anti-Corbynism could whine all it liked in The Guardian and on Twitter. But there would be absolutely nothing that it could do.
